Hospice care is known not only as a special type of care, but a certain philosophy to improve the quality of care for a person who is dying. Hospice care provides services in a patient's residence or in a hospice facility for patients with a diagnosis of a terminal illness.

Hospice patients are provided with a special level of professional care, including pain management and counseling for patients; nursing, physician, therapy, and social work services; counseling and support for family members and friends of the patient; and other support services.
