Golf shaft for seniors 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi Guys,

Are any of you golfers here using senior flex shafts or still sticking with regular or even stiff? My back isn't what is used to be and I'm thinking of going from stiff to regular. My carry is still about 250

I'm sticking with a regular shaft. I still carry about 230-240. I tried Senior flex shafts, but they feel like a wet noodle to me. I just picked up the new TaylorMade Burner Superfast and can't wait to play it. I put in a regular Fujikura Motore and was about 255 at the launch monitor.

The best thing is to go get fitted with a Regular and Senior flex. Test the two out at a launch monitor. You can try a Golf Smith or Roger Dunn (if you live in the west coast) or even a Dick's Sporting Goods.

Sometimes people will use a shaft and club that doesn't really fit their swing and leave 30 yards off the table. It's such a waste.

Hope that helps.

What swing speed do I need to hit a regular shaft vs a senior shaft?

I would say that depends on the type of shaft you get. A lot of stock shafts (attached to the clubhead at the store) are not as stiff as if you bought one aftermarket and installed it later.

Typical Senior Flex swing speed would be 75-80 MPH. Maybe even 85. Regular about 85-95. Stiff 90-105. X-Stiff 105+

It really depends. If you think you're swing speed won't drop and it will be consistent, you should go to get fitted to see how far your ball goes with a Regular shaft and a Senior Flex shaft.

What is your swing speed and how far do you carry the ball with your driver?
